MY STORY

My Journey. My Purpose.

I was born in Haiti and came to the United States when I was 9 years old. Like many immigrant families, my mother came here with one goal—to build a better life for her children. She worked incredibly hard every single day, but one of the biggest challenges she faced was the language barrier.

As I learned English in school, I naturally became her interpreter.

At first, it was the little things.

Reading every letter that came in the mail.

Explaining school notices.

Helping complete forms and applications.

Reading medical paperwork, insurance documents, bills, and important letters.

Making phone calls she wasn't comfortable making on her own.

Going with her to doctor's appointments, school meetings, banks, and anywhere communication mattered.

I didn't realize it then, but I was learning one of the most valuable skills of my life.

I remember sitting beside my mom at our kitchen table, reading every document line by line because I wanted her to understand every word. I never wanted her to feel lost simply because English wasn't her first language. Even as a child, I understood that one misunderstood sentence could affect someone's health, finances, education, or future.

As the years passed, people began to notice.

Family members would call and ask, "Can Anaika help me read this letter?"

Friends of the family would ask, "Can she come with me to my appointment?"

Soon, I found myself helping grandparents, cousins, neighbors, church members, and family friends. Whether it was translating a document, explaining paperwork, interpreting during an appointment, or simply helping someone understand an important conversation, I became someone people trusted.

Without realizing it, I had become the bridge between two languages, two cultures, and countless life-changing conversations.

That experience taught me something I will never forget.

Helping people isn't just about translating words.

It's about giving them confidence.

It's about making them feel heard.

It's about making sure they fully understand the decisions that affect their lives and their families.

Today, that purpose has grown far beyond helping my own family.

I proudly provide professional Haitian Creole interpreting and translation services, and I'm also a licensed Life Insurance Agent dedicated to helping individuals and families protect what matters most.

Because what began as helping one person I loved has become my life's purpose.
